So I just returned from my 6 states, 6 flights, 7 days tour of the American South. Last Friday, I was here on The Moon. Then I was in Manchester, New Hampshire and then on to Northboro and Boston, Massachusetts. On Saturday, it was down to Providence, Rhode Island and on to Hotlanta, Georgia, then finally to Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Then I did it all again, in reverse order, on Wednesday and Thursday. I was, um, kinda tired by yesterday. One of my cousins from Indiana was getting married on the beach down there, and it was pretty cool. I put on two coats of sunscreen every time I went outside and didn't get burned - go me! I got to see the town where they filmed The Truman Show, and that was pretty creepy but surprisingly nice and artsy. My family was the only bunch of Yanks there, so my dad kept freaking out because none of them used correct English. He kept looking at me, the English major, to back him up, but I'm just not nearly as anal as he is. He didn't want to be a dick to my relatives, so he just paid super close attention to our direct family's speech and corrected us all the time. It was dreadful. Overall, though, it was pretty nice; I'm sure glad to be back on The Moon, though.
I was extra glad to get back here because I had a meeting with Public Interest Research Graphics, the graphics department of the non-profit I've been working with for the past two summers. They offered me a job for a year as a web administrator for their state websites, and I accepted it. Check it out - I'm gainfully employed. Ha! I start on June 22nd, so I'm trying to figure out what to do until then. Anyone have anything mindless (besides reading a Dan Brown novel) to do until then?
Ok, off to the bank in the rain!
So I graduated from college. Ridiculous. 16 or so years of school and I got a piece of paper that I can't even read. (It's in Latin. Yes, I took Latin (hi Annie) but I didn't pay attention. Der.) It feels good, but weird. Exciting, but scary. Strange, but exhilirating. It was a pretty decent ride, but I'm glad that it's done.
The Girl is here right now, sitting behind me working on her final school project. She has to run it on up to New York today and then she's back tomorrow for good. Hurray!
Steve is sleeping on the The Girl's papers. She (Steve) is really annoying. I think she was weaned too early and what she likes to do is to lick any exposed skin while you're sleeping and then stare at you with a blank look on her face. I'd punch her if she weren't so cute.
So that's about all. I don't think I want to write another sappy
article, but I will say thanks to everybody. You all made it slightly less existential.
I just moved into my new place. It's very exciting. The place is a super mess right now because I'm a consumer whore and have wayyyyy too much shit. It's just Steve and me right now, but The Girl will be back this weekend for my graduation and then for good Tuesdayish. It's kinda boring right now, but this weekend should be a gas (whole fam's coming down, graduation might get rained out) and things'll start moving a little more quickly - but not too quickly, I hope - next week. I'm looking for this to be a nice relaxing summer. If you're in my neck of the woods (West Philly), swing on by.
Moving tomorrow. Yippee. Been packing a lot. Bought a big ass chain for a bike today. I miss The Girl but she's coming back this weekend. I'm, like, graduating or something.
Ok, not a lot to report, but hopefully there will be updates on
Insurance Runs and my final post on my
apartment blog to keep us all company.
And once again, I have to reiterate: I could not care less about fucking Barry Bonds.
Ok, just a quick link.
Here are the lyrics to "Search and Destroy" by Iggy Pop. All well and good, but scroll down past the links to other Iggy songs and check out what other songs people are viewing after they look up this one. Yea. Yea.
So. That were college, huh? Huh. How 'bout that. That weren't so bad, wud it?
This is an evening for Simon and Garfunkel.
Big weekend then big week, complete with a move. Hurrah.
